Our Activities
Bolpur Oikantik SocietyFree Medical Camp
Health is one of our most valuable assets. Unfortunately, not everyone has access to proper healthcare due to financial or logistical barriers. Since its formation, Bolpur Oikantik Society (BOS) has been actively involved in health-related initiatives.
We regularly organize free medical camps that include health check-ups, distribution of medicines, awareness programs, and nutrition support. These camps are especially focused on providing essential healthcare services to the poor and needy, with special emphasis on preventing diseases through awareness.
Adult Education Center
Education is a powerful tool that can change lives. BOS has set up adult education centers in the tribal villages of Baripukurdanga and Jharkadanga. These centers aim to provide basic education to elderly men and women who never had a chance to go to school.
Started on September 5th in memory of Prasad Chattopadhyay (Mulu), the youngest son of the late Ramananda Chattopadhyay, the centers now serve 26 learners. Basic literacy in Bengali and English, numeracy, and practical knowledge like mobile usage are part of the curriculum.
Blood Donation Camp
India faces a severe shortage of blood, with a gap of nearly 4 million units annually. To contribute to addressing this crisis, BOS organizes blood donation camps in various locations.
While we cannot bridge the entire gap, we believe even small contributions count. Our camps also aim to raise awareness about anemia and break the myths around blood donation. We encourage everyone to donate blood—it’s safe, generous, and life-saving.
Child Education Center
COVID-19 disrupted the education of many children, especially in rural areas. To bridge this gap, BOS has set up two learning centers—one in Baripukurdanga and another in Jharkadanga.
Together, these centers serve 100 children. The Baripukurdanga Adivasigram Shishu Shikshakendra works in partnership with Fuldangapalli Unnayan Samiti and serves 36 students. The other, managed independently by BOS, serves 72 students.
Classes are held three times a week by experienced teachers. Students are also provided with nutritious food after class. Educational materials, warm clothes, and new outfits are distributed during Durga Puja each year.
Tree Plantation
To promote environmental sustainability, BOS has launched a tree plantation initiative. We distribute saplings free of cost and help villagers plant fruit and vegetable-bearing trees in their homes and community spaces.
So far, we’ve planted around 150 trees including mango, jackfruit, litchi, blackberry, and papaya. We also help with fencing and maintenance. The program involves the whole family, and even the youngest members are encouraged to participate.
Awareness Camp
Many communities, especially in tribal villages, struggle with lack of awareness around important issues. BOS conducts regular awareness camps on topics like child marriage prevention, menstrual hygiene (using sanitary napkins), school attendance, and more.
We also guide people on how to benefit from various government schemes by explaining the application process and eligibility criteria. Our goal is to ensure no one is left behind due to lack of information.
Clothes Distribution Programs
In the areas around Bolpur, many helpless and destitute people don’t get the chance to buy even a single set of new clothes in a year. Imagine spending a cold winter night without anything warm to wear.
Every year, we aim to bring warmth and smiles to the faces of men, women, children, and the elderly by distributing new clothes and blankets. Many elderly and homeless individuals, left alone or without family support, suffer greatly during the cold season—often falling ill or getting injured due to the harsh weather.

Winter Clothes
Every winter, we distribute warm clothes and blankets to those in need—especially the homeless, elderly, and poor families living around Bolpur. These efforts aim to protect people from the harsh cold and prevent illness.

Used Clothes
We collect wearable used clothes from various sources and distribute them to families in nearby villages, where the need is particularly high. These clothes are used throughout the year, especially in winter.

New Clothes for Festivals
Each year during Durga Puja or other local festivals, we distribute new clothes in tribal villages around Bolpur. These clothes are sponsored by generous donors and well-wishers, and they bring immense joy to children and adults alike.
