About Bolpur Oikantik Society

On 10th December 2017, a group of well-wishers, generous-minded, enthusiastic people started a journey towards the development and welfare of the helpless poor of society. The organization is located near Santiniketan, the land of love of poet Rabindranath Tagore Inspired by Tagore’s vision for rural development, the party has vowed to empower disadvantaged tribal communities in and around Bolpur-Santiniketan so that they can access all their rights and entitlements and raise their concerns with the appropriate authorities. The purpose of our organization is to give communities the benefit of a healthier lifestyle so that they can solve their own problems. Tagore’s motto in rural development “Help the people” is the key to the development approach of Bolpur Oikantik Society.

After working unofficially for 3 years, the company was registered on 13th August 2020 under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act. This registration has laid the foundation for the organization to act as a full-fledged entity for the desired purpose of community development.

A number of like-minded individuals have extended their helping hands in expanding the activities of the organization with their intellectual skills and resources. Bringing all these helpless people under one umbrella and involving them in the activities of the organization was not an easy task. Today it has been possible only with the loving support of all of you and the support of our members. I wish you to stay with us like this in the coming days.

Over the course of more than 5 years, BOS has had a direct impact on the lives of more children, marginalized women, and their families. This has been possible only through meaningful cooperation and positive partnership. Bolpur Oikantik Society is a non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Bolpur that has been operating since 2016 and by 2020 it has become a government-registered organization under the Government of West Bengal. We work for the upliftment and development of socio-economically backward people.
